Highway 1 detour east of Goodridge begins July 5

22 mile detour is located between Hwy 89 and Pennington County Road 28

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 1 should plan for additional travel time when a detour begins Tuesday, July 5 as crews replace an overflow channel bridge located 12.5 miles west of the intersection with Highway 89.

The detour takes motorists through Grygla and adds about 22 miles to the commute. It follows Pennington County Road 28, Marshall County Road 54 and Highway 89. It is expected to last about three months, weather permitting.

MnDOT urges motorists to follow these recommendations in work zones: stay alert; watch for signs, equipment and workers; minimize distractions, such as using cell phones, eating or drinking; avoid tailgating; follow posted speed limits and directional signs; and stay in one lane while driving through the work zone.
