Marijuana beat: Tribal policy change, big bust on west side

MISSION, Ore. – The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation Board of Trustees is continuing an earlier decision to keep marijuana an illegal substance on the reservation, but they have changed the tribal hiring policy.

“It’s still a Level 1 drug under federal law,” Director of Communications Chuck Sams said. “The tribes will continue that. They have not legalized an ounce or less at all. They’re still going to look at some of that as things are playing out across the state.”

While the overall policy stays the same, there is a change as far as hiring goes.
