CASS LAKE -- They danced in spite of the rain.
Several dozen people showed up Friday to the second annual Two-Spirit Awareness Day in Cass Lake, celebrating people on the reservation who are LGBTQ, a group native tribes have long believed to possess two spirits.
On a day when the weather tried convincing everybody to stay home, more and more people came out to dance to the beat of the rain, under the bright flashes of recurrent lightning.
