WASHINGTON – The Tule River Tribe, whose reservation land has been relocated and repeatedly appropriated by others since it was established in 1856, may soon be enlarged by 34 acres.
A House Natural Resources subcommittee on Indian Affairs gave largely favorable comment to the idea of transferring the federal Bureau of Land Management acreage in Tulare County to the tribe as proposed in a bill introduced by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield.
