Jury selection begins in murder trial

BEMIDJI—Attorneys for Beltrami County and for a Bemidji man charged with felony murder spent eight hours working toward the selection of a jury Monday, with opening statements expected Tuesday.

The hours of jury selection marked the start of Brian Keith Jourdain's trial, which is expected to last two weeks. Jourdain, 26, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, one with and one without intent, in connection with the death Krista Marie Fisherman, 35, of Redby, in February 2015. A criminal complaint alleges that Jourdain stabbed Fisherman multiple times, causing her death.

Jourdain has been held in Beltrami County Jail since the incident.
