Bemidji Police Department Death Investigation Ongoing

At approximately 1216 hours on June 5th, 2016, the Bemidji Police Department, along with the Bemidji Fire Department and the Bemidji Ambulance service responded to a report of a child not breathing at a residence on Lake Avenue in Bemidji, MN.

When officers and other emergency responders arrived they discovered the body of a deceased 2 year old female. During the initial investigation and execution of a search warrant, Nathan Daniel Jackson, age 38, of Bemidji was arrested for 2nd degree murder and 2nd degree Manslaughter. Mr. Jackson is being held in the Beltrami County Jail. The body of the child has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

The case remains under investigation as the Bemidji Police Department continues to collect information. Formal charges from the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office are pending.
