Closures on Highway 197 in Bemidji begins June 6

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 197/Bemidji Avenue in Bemidji will experience lane closures near Bemidji State University beginning June 6 as crews construct a pedestrian crosswalk system.

The safety improvement project also includes a temporary closure of the westbound lane of 15th Street at the intersection with Bemidji Avenue which will last up to three days.

Crews will replace the sidewalk between 15th Street and 18th Street, and construct a crosswalk between 16th Street and 17th Street. The crosswalk includes a user-activated flashing beacon, along with the construction of a concrete center island. This will go through the month of June.

Baudette Road Project

Detours on Highway 11 west of Baudette delayed until June 6

Detour were originally scheduled to begin June 1

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The two detours for the Highway 11 construction project between Baudette and Pitt have been delayed until Monday, June 6 as rain is forecasted through the weekend.

Construction crews will still begin work on the project Wednesday, although all work will be done under traffic. Motorists should use caution and can expect lane closures.

The two detours scheduled for June 6 are located between:

• Detour 1- Highway 72 and Third Avenue SW

• Detour 2- Lake of the Woods County Road 3 and County Road 6 in Pitt

ECKLES TOWNSHIP- west of Bemidji

Work continues in the area of Wild Rose Ln NW and Eckles Rd NW where the road is being lowered to make a safer intersection. Various closures are in place with a detour clearly marked. At this time Wild Rose Ln NW between Eckles Rd NW and Birdsview Ln NW is closed.

CITY OF BLACKDUCK

Available on Facebook only see the City of Blackduck page. Presently there is work being done (Water and Sewer project) on Summit Ave west of Hwy 71 from Industrial Ave to Carl Ave. This is passable at this time but will start up again on June 20th.

CITY OF BEMIDJI

The intersection of 5th St NW and Beltrami Ave NW in downtown Bemidji will be closed from June 13-June 19 for storm sewer repairs. There will be a detour in place for traffic control. Questions should be directed to the Public Works Division 333-1850.
