The six bands of Chippewa tribes in northern Wisconsin speared 32,623 walleyes this spring, 15% fewer than in 2015 and slightly above the 10-year average, according to preliminary data from the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission.
Earlier this year the tribes declared intentions to take as many as 58,337 walleyes, also down from 2015.
