Red Lake Middle School inducts 4 new members into National Junior Honor Society - P9

RED LAKE - On Thursday, May 19, 2016, four new members were inducted into the Red Lake Middle School Junior Honor Society, and eleven current members were recognized in a special ceremony at the Red Lake Middle School Mini-Theater.

The National Junior Honor Society is a worldwide organization that promotes and supports student achievement in areas of citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship and character.

The welcome was provided by NJHS advisors Tara Olson and Rachel Boughton, followed by Principal Mark Bensen, and the Keynote Address by Justin Beaulieu.

NJHS KayLynn Chaboyea provided the introductions of the current members: 7th graders Azlynn Jourdain, Kelanna McClain and LaTayla Pemberton; and 8th grade members KayLynn Chaboyea, Kyliah Day, Joel.le Drouillard, Gerika Kingbird, Erin Lussier, Hunter Parker, Destiny Perkins and Adrian Sayers.

Five candles were also lit by NJHS members that represented Character, Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Citizenship.

Four new members were then inducted into NJHS and they are 6th graders Karen Guise, Malingan Johnson, Kelly Matt and LaTasha Thompson.

The purpose of the National Junior Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in students.

After a closing drum song by Wes Jourdain, dinner was served in the RLMS cafeteria, along with cake and other refreshments.
