Blackduck seeded third in Girls Class A Softball

The Class A and Class AA softball tournaments have been seeded.

The Blackduck softball team earned the No. 3 seed in the Sub-Section 8A North softball tournament, which starts next week.

The Drakes, who finished the regular season with an 11-8 record, will take on Red Lake (0-9) in their first-round game Tuesday in Blackduck.

Badger/Greenbush-Middle River is the No. 1 seed and gets a first-round bye, as does No. 2 seeded Red Lake Falls.

Lake of the Woods (6-8) earned the No. 4 seed and will take on fifth-seeded Kelliher-Northome (3-13) in Baudette on Tuesday.

The Blackduck/Red Lake winner and the LOTW/K-N winner will advance to the second round, which will be hosted by Lake of the Woods.

In the south sub-section, Cass Lake-Bena earned the No. 7 seed after finishing the regular season 4-12 and will take on No. 2 seeded East Grand Forks Sacred Heart in the first round.

The tournament will continue until June 2, when the section final will be played at Sacred Heart High School.

In Class AA, Section 8, Bagley is the No. 8 seed in the 8AA North Sub-Section.

The Flyers, who finished 1-18 overall, will take on top-seeded Warroad (12-4) in a first-round game Tuesday in Warroad.

Thief River Falls will host the rest of the tournament after the first round.
