Hawks says congressional delegates haven't done enough to fix IHS problems

A Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress said this week the state's Republican delegation hasn't done enough to respond to reports of chronically deficient care in the state's reservation hospitals.

State Rep. Paula Hawks said the delegation should've done more to hold the Indian Health Service (IHS) accountable for decades of deficient care beginning at least half a decade ago, when Congress addressed deadly problems at reservation hospitals.
