ELECTION: Candidate filing opens for city, county seats

BEMIDJI -- The time period for candidates to file for the 2016 November election opened Tuesday, with multiple county and city hopefuls already adding their names to the ballot.

For the city of Bemidji, incumbents Mayor Rita Albrecht and City Council members Michael Meehlhause, Ron Johnson and Nancy Erickson filed for re-election. Albrecht will be seeking a third term as mayor, having won elections in 2012 and 2014.
