Red Lake Nation May, 18, 2016 Red Lake Tribal Elections Unofficial Results

Run-Off Elections will be held in all 4 Districts

RED LAKE - Members of the Red Lake Nation went to the polls on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, for the purpose of electing four District Representatives for a four-year term from the Ponemah, Redby, Red Lake and Little Rock Districts.

The incumbents were Randy Kingbird, Ponemah District Representative, Allen Pemberton, Redby District Representative, Robert Smith, Red Lake District Representative, and Richard Barrett, Sr., Little Rock District Representative.

If a candidate receives 50 percent of the vote plus one, they are the declared winner. If no one attains the threshold in any or all seats, a run-off election will be set by the Red Lake Tribal Council.

Unofficially, there will be a run-off between Allen Pemberton and Darrell Johnson in Redby; Robert Smith and Donald Good in Red Lake; Glenda Martin and Dan Johnson in Ponemah; and Richard Barrett and Billy Green in Little Rock.

The General Election Board shall convene at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2016, to review and finally certify the results.

Pursuant to Chapter 1807.06 of the Election Code, only a candidate, and no other person, may challenge the correctness of the certified results of an election in which that candidate ran for elected office and then only for the office that he or she sought. Challenges must be filed in writing under oath with the General Election Board within five calendar days following the certification of the election. The challenge must provide the necessary information required by the Election Code and be accompanied by a cash bond of five hundred dollars ($500.00).
