Rudine Leslie Jones, "Ozaawaane Makwa", Brown Bear, age 67, of Redby, began his spiritual journey on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born in Red Lake, Minnesota on October 3, 1948 the son of Theodore and Pauline (Jourdain) Jones.

Rudine attended school in Red Lake. Following school, he entered the service. Serving in the U.S. Army from 1970-1973 during Viet Nam. He obtained the rank of Sargent before being honorably discharged from the service. Following the service, Rudine worked as a truck driver, a logger and also with Indian Action. He liked fishing with his family, pow-wow music, watching football, and traveling to the casino. Rudine loved being with his grandkids, great granddaughter, and the rest of his family. He and Sharon were married from 1989-2016.

The family that Rudine joins again are his parents; Theodore and Pauline, brothers; Alden Jones and Alan Earl Jones, sisters; Darlene Fisherman, Carolyn Jones, Annette Jones and Lori Jones, numerous nieces and cousins.

Those he leaves behind are his wife of 31 years; Sharon (Cloud) Jones and a special grandson they raised, Leslie R. Jones, granddaughter; Cadence Jones-Spears, daughters; K.T. Jones, Ashley Jones and Jen Staples, son; Dennis Harrison, step sons; Allen and Delwyn Cloud, brother; Richard Jones, sisters; Marilyn Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Mary (Alfred) Berg and Vicki (Gilbert) Juarez, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Rudine will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19th and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Saturday, May 21st all being held at the Redby Community Center. Pastor Paul Straubel will officiate. Pallbearers will be Joel Jones, Jason Jones, Mike Spears, Mike Jones, Noden Wind, Ryan Jones, Rodney Stillday, Jr., Brian "Bert" Jones. Honorary pallbearers Chuck Barrett, Al Pemberton, Pete Oakgrove, Robert Kingbird, Ron Schoenborn, Tom Charnoski, Sr., Gary Auginash, Alfred Berg, Vicki Juarez, Debbie Barrett, Karyn Jourdain, Darilyn Jones, Melissa Jones, Shannon Jones, Heather Stillday, Desirae Johnson, Ruth Auginash. Interment will be held in the Jones Family burial grounds in Redby following the service.
