Report: Native American Domestic Violence Rising

A new study by advocacy group “Futures Without Violence” warned of a continuing increase in domestic violence toward women and children on Native American reservations.

“It is pretty prevalent," said Shannon Jose, who works for a domestic violence program on the Tohono O'odham Nation. "When we look at Indian Country, when we look at the statistics around domestic violence and sexual assault, we do have the highest rate.”

Every day Jose makes the rounds and checks on women on the who may be at risk of domestic violence.
