'Mayday' Gathering Signals Distress over Victimized Native Women

For many in the native community, sexual and physical violence against women hits far too close to home.

About 50 native people, supporters and community leaders, gathered Sunday afternoon in Duluth to remember native women who are missing, murdered or trafficked.

Holding the gathering on May 1 was no coincidence. Babette Sandman, an elder and organizer in the Anishinaabe community said it was a fitting day to remember victims.
