Crow Tribe comptroller facing embezzlement charges

A woman employed as the Crow Indian Tribe’s comptroller is facing federal embezzlement charges.

A document filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court charges Karla Elizabeth MacCatherine with embezzlement from an Indian tribal organization.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Colin Rubich alleges in the document that MacCatherine, while working as the tribe’s comptroller, embezzled $28,000 from the tribe for her own use from Feb. 25, 2013, until Aug. 14, 2014.
