Man shot, killed on Pala Indian Reservation

NORTH COUNTY — A man was fatally shot while sitting in a vehicle on the Pala Indian Reservation early Monday, a sheriff's official said.

The 56-year-old victim was sitting in the vehicle on Ortega Road near Second Street about 12:20 a.m. when an unknown person started shooting into the vehicle, striking the occupant multiple times, said Sgt. Todd Norton. The location is less than a mile east of Pala Casino.
