Beltrami Electric Cooperative members elect three to cooperative board

Beltrami Electric Cooperative held its 76th annual meeting on Thursday, April 21 in the Bemidji High School auditorium. The members of the Cooperative elected three directors to the board, which include incumbents Murl Nord (District 1) and Robert Wallner (District 5). Sue Kringen (District 8) was elected to replace Terry Diffley, who reached his term limit.

The Northside Jazz Combo provided pre-meeting entertainment in the auditorium. Beginning the meeting, members of Beltrami Electric were treated to an Acapella rendition of the National Anthem, sung by 2016 Youth Tour Representative and Bemidji High School junior, Lara Hicks.

Retiring general manager and CEO Lynette Nieuwsma was recognized for her years of service to the cooperative and congratulated on her recent retirement.

Beltrami Electric CEO Jared Echternach reported on 2015 activities at the cooperative, including an update on Northern Solar, a community solar garden planned to break ground later this year.

Approximately 660 members attended the dinner and business meeting, which included a financial update from Manager of Finance, Sid Sletten and a presentation from guest speaker, Robert "Mac" McLennan, President and CEO of Minnkota Power Cooperative.
