Red Lake Early Childhood Center hosts kickoff event for Action for Healthy Kids

The Red Lake Early Childhood Center (RL ECC) received an Action for Healthy Kids grant to focus on improving physical fitness, nutrition, knowledge of healthy choices in the home and community and reducing screen time. The RL ECC currently works in partnership with Oshkiimaajitahdah providing culturally responsive activities for the children and their families.

On Thursday April 21st ECC hosted a Kick Off event featuring a Navajo world class runner, Craig Curley, who provided teaching to all kindergarten students.

At the end of the day all students, staff and some families participated in a walk, jog or run around the track for 15 minutes. Most students completed at least 2 loops or 1/2 mile. One student completed one mile.

Miigwech to Oshkiimaajitahdah and the Action for Healthy Kids grant for making this special event possible for our most precious resources, our children and their families.
