Warm Springs Voters Say No To Constitutional Amendments
Voters with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs rejected proposed amendments to their tribal Constitution on Tuesday.
All 15 of the proposed amendments failed in the secretarial election. Some amendments would have changed the organization of tribal leadership, including how council members are elected and paid. Others would have eliminated lifetime council appointments for tribal chiefs, and lowered the voting age for tribal members from 21 to 18.
