Waseca man suspected of killing father, woman kills self

SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- A man and woman were found fatally beaten in their suburban Twin Cities home southwest of Minneapolis and the man’s son, who had been identified by police as a suspect in the killings, fatally shot himself in a standoff with police at his home in Waseca, Shakopee police said.

Officers were called to do a welfare check Monday night and found the couple beaten to death in a small room in the basement of the home, Shakopee Police Chief Jeff Tate said in an interview.
