'For all that happened, it's amazing we're here:' Sandra White Hawk speaks about Native American history Tuesday at Beltrami Electric Cooperative


BEMIDJI—Sandra White Hawk said she wanted Tuesday evening to be about reconciliation—and said it was important to lay out the facts, however ugly.

White Hawk, founder and director of the First Nations Repatriation Institute, told horror stories and showed photos of tiny handcuffs and the children who wore them during a two-hour talk about Native American history before about 75 people at the Beltrami Electric Cooperative.
