Drugs, weapons sweep on White Earth lands five in jail

Five people were arrested Monday following a drugs and weapons sweep at three different locations in the village of Naytahwaush, which is in Mahnomen County on the White Earth Indian Reservation. According to a press release from the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Department, officers recovered weapons, narcotics and money during the search, and several young children were taken and turned over to Indian Child Welfare for protective custody.

The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Department, White Earth Police, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, West Central Drug Task Force, ATF, FBI, BIA and the BCA executed the search warrants simultaneously.

Names of those arrested will be released upon their initial court appearance.
