U.S. Senate hears testimony on school choice for Native Americans

U.S. Sen. John McCain stressed the need for thinking “outside the box” as the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs heard testimony Wednesday on the Native American Education Opportunity Act.

That legislation would give students in schools funded by the Bureau of Indian Education access to education savings accounts. Introduced by Arizona senator McCain, this bill would apply to states that already have ESA programs in place, such as Arizona, Nevada, Florida and Mississippi.
