When First Lady Michelle Obama travels to New Mexico next month to speak at commencement ceremonies for a well-known Indian boarding school, she’ll be diving head-first into troubled waters that she has spent years testing.
Obama this week announced that she will deliver the commencement address at the Santa Fe Indian School (SFIS), a 125-year-old boarding school established by the federal government to educate Native American students from throughout the Southwest.
