ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Northern Plains Region, Bemidji Area, Red Lake IHS Hospital, Division of Administrative Services, Red Lake, Minnesota.

The purpose of this is position is to perform a variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the organization

The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3. Duties

DUTIES:

Receives, routes, or otherwise handles incoming and outgoing materials such as controlled or routine correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Performs office automation duties to prepare documents such as correspondence, forms, and reports which can include technical material, graphs and charts. Manages the appointment and meeting schedule for the Director of the organizational unit served, and those of other senior staff members as directed. Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences. Receives calls and visitors from within and outside the immediate organizational unit. Performs other duties as assigned that are related to the position.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Perform timekeeping, Federal travel, maintenance and disposition of records, and purchasing.Keeps the appointment and meeting schedule for the Director of the organization unit served, and those of other senior staff members as directed to coordinate the logistics required for the meetings. Receive and respond to calls and visitors from within and outside the immediate organizational unit. Perform a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work of the organization. Use computer work processing, database programs, and other computer software to enter, store, retrieve and print information and prepare correspondence, reports, and other written documents.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
