Minneapolis North Polars end Red Lake's winning streak 82-61 at Target Center - Set 2 - P14

Class A State Semifinal – Red Lake 61 vs. Minneapolis North 82

The high flying Minneapolis North Polars will play for a State Championship on Saturday, following their 82-61 victory over Red Lake at Target Center in Minneapolis. The Polars will have a chance to win their 6th State Championship in school history.

The game began with a 9-0 for the Polars before the Warriors calmed down and got on the board. The lead would stretch to 20 in the first half, but the Warriors cut it down to 12 at halftime. The lead was down to 7 early in the second half, but the Polars forced turnovers, and out-rebounded Red Lake 44-34 in the game, and also got above the rim with some highlight-reel dunks in transition and in the paint. The game was won on the inside, and off of turnovers. Minneapolis North out-scored Red Lake 60-36 in the paint, and 45-14 off of turnovers.

During the game, Red Lake Junior Rob McClain scored his 1000th career point, on a free throw in the second half.

The loss sends Red Lake to the 3rd place game, 9:30am on Saturday at Concordia St Paul. The game will be broadcast on KKCQ 96.7FM with pregame show at 9am, also online at rjbroadcasting.com
