The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that a Nebraska town of mostly non-American Indian residents is part of the Omaha Indian Reservation – a decision that has tribal members in Wyoming’s Wind River Reservation optimistic for a similar outcome in a case involving Riverton.
The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals is weighing the case of Wyoming versus the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which ruled in December 2013 that Riverton is part of the reservation. The state disagrees.
