Open letter calls upon Canadian government to scale up fish protection


Conservationists and scientists have written an open letter to the Canadian government to scale up ‘scale up’ Canada’s Fisheries Act and to modernize the 150-year-old legislation.

The letter has been addressed to Canada’s Fisheries and Oceans Minister Hunter Tootoo and has been signed by nearly fifty signees including West Coast Environmental Law, First Nations, the Atlantic Salmon Federation, the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, scientists and conservation groups.
