ROLL OVER FATALITY BELTRAMI COUNTY

Greetings- please see the attached, and in the body of this email, Press Release from our Chief Deputy Ernie Beitel regarding a fatal crash in Beltrami County today. Kindly share and disseminate.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at approximately 8:06 AM, the Beltrami County 911 Dispatch Center received a report of a motor vehicle rollover crash with injuries near the intersection of Debs Rd NW and Stai Dr NW in Roosevelt Township, located approximately 24 miles NW of Bemidji.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a 2005 Buick Rendezvous, operated by a Janice Peterson, age 50 of Brookings, South Dakota, was traveling southbound on Debs Road NW., when she lost control of the vehicle and it entered the east ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over and eject the driver and her male passenger, Corwyn Peterson, age 47, also of Brookings, South Dakota, from the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were unrestrained in the vehicle.

The driver was found deceased at the scene. The male passenger was flown from the scene by Sanford Air Ambulance to a Grand Forks, ND hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and MN State Patrol.
