IN OTHER 8A ACTION

Section 8A West Quarterfinal – #5 Fertile-Beltrami 54 vs. #4 Northern Freeze 44

Both teams got off to a slow start before finding their rhythm midway through the first half. From there we would be tied four times before the Fertile Beltrami Falcons took the lead with two minutes remaining in the first half on a pair of free throws and go into halftime leading the Northern Freeze 18-16. The Falcons then came out with more energy in the second half to build a double digit lead before the Freeze, dealing with foul trouble for most of the game, would start subbing offense for defense and intentionally fouling the Falcons to make them keep their lead at the free throw line. The Falcons did just that. Shooting 33 free throws in the second half alone, the #5 seeded Fertile Beltrami Falcons kept the #4 seeded Northern Freeze at bay to earn the upset victory and advance to the 8A West Semi-Finals where they will play the #1 seeded Sacred Heart Eagles.

Fertile Beltrami Falcons:
