Vene to seek re-election to Beltrami County Commission

BEMIDJI—Beltrami County Commissioner Joe Vene said Friday he plans to seek re-election to the board in the Nov. 8 election.

Vene represents District 2 on the board, which includes Eckles Township and Bemidji city wards 1, 2 and 4. He is also chair of the board this year.

Vene was first elected to the county commission in 2004. A U.S. Army Veteran, he is a longtime resident of Bemidji and a graduate of Bemidji State University. A former teacher, he also is a graduate of the U.S. Department of Justice's National Institute of Corrections Academy and is the former director of the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center in Bemidji.
