Tribal police officer injured in hit-and-run

An Oglala Sioux Tribal police officer was injured in a hit-and-run Thursday on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

According to the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, Lt. Laddimer Clifford was injured in the line of duty and was recovering at home after being struck by a vehicle.

Ellen Fills The Pipe, chairwoman of the tribe's Law and Order Committee, said she believed the suspect in the incident was already apprehended by police, but she could not provide any other details.
