The federal and provincial governments have just announced joint funding for 13 infrastructure projects across Ontario, including one for Lac des Mille Lacs.

The First Nation will receive more than $500,000 for a new solar-powered electric micro-grid to reduce the community's reliance on diesel.

The community currently uses the fuel to power a roundhouse and cultural complex.
