Chumash tribal chairman Armenta resigns to attend culinary school

Vincent Armenta resigned from his post as tribal chairman of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians on Thursday to pursue a culinary arts degree.

His departure occurs at a time when the tribe is in the midst of complex negotiations with a subcommittee of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors over the development of the tribe's 1400-acre Camp 4 property in the Santa Ynez Valley.
