MINNEAPOLIS -- Red Lake started red-hot and hung on when the going got tougher in the second half to drop Browerville-Eagle Valley 66-52 in a Class A quarterfinal game Thursday at Williams Arena in the 2016 Minnesota boys' state basketball tournament.
Playing before a loud and largely red-clad crowd, the Warriors (27-4) advanced to a matchup against top-seeded and top-ranked Minneapolis North (27-5), which thumped St. Clair 80-27 in the first quarterfinal game. That semifinal contest is set for noon Friday in the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Browerville-Eagle Valley saw a 14-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 26-3 on the season.
