Darryl Gregory Beaulieu, Sr. “Gimiwan” of the Bear Clan, age 57, of Ponemah, began his spiritual journey on Friday, March 11, 2016 at his home. Darryl was born on February 25, 1959 in Minneapolis, the son of Herbert and Mildred (Sayers) Beaulieu.

Darryl was a very kind hearted man who loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed being with his little Kaylo and his new grandbaby, Darryl Beaulieu III. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, listening to old time country music, watching t.v. and going to the casino to play all of his old man money. Darryl would spend a lot of time looking at eagles on the internet and taking long rides in the woods. He loved racing and in his time, he had raced stock cars for a number of years. Darryl graduated from Indian Action where he took heat and sheet metal training. He had a lot of friends who he would spend time visiting. Darryl also liked being with all his pets, which included goldfish, cats and dogs. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family that Darryl joins again are his parents; Herbert and Mildred, twin brother; Douglas Beaulieu, brothers; Harold Sayers and John Beaulieu, sister; Nancy Beaulieu, niece; Destiny Lussier, nephew; Allen Beaulieu, in-laws; Alvina Dow and Isadore Perkins, numerous aunts and uncles.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Deb Beaulieu of Ponemah, son; Darryl Beaulieu, Jr. of Ponemah, daughter; Kaylo Iceman of Ponemah, brothers; Paul Beaulieu of Brainerd, Steve Beaulieu of Red Lake, and Frank Beaulieu of Red Lake, sisters; Camille White of Red Lake, and Norma Beaulieu of Clear Brook, one grandson; Darryl Beaulieu III of Ponemah, an aunt; Edna Staples of Cass Lake, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Darryl will begin at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 and will continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Sunday, March 19, all held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah. Spiritual leader will be Steve Jackson. Active pallbearers are Lawrence Lussier, Keith Dow, Sr., Mike Pierre, Stephen Dow, Darryl Beaulieu, Jr., and Ron Sigana. Alternate pallbearers will be Scott Graves, Dean Stately, and Dezmond Sigana. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Whitefeather, Harold Raincloud, Sr., Rudy Kingbird, Mel Spears, Earl Raincloud, Sr., Linda Stately, Lisa Stately, Linda Dow, Larry Dow, Loni Sayers, Randy Kingbird, Tara Kingbird, Sue Sigana, Hagatha Kingbird and Tristyn Stillday. Interment will be held at Darryl’s home following the service.
