BEMIDJI — There were no surprises at the BSU Gymnasium on Thursday night, as No. 2 seed Red Lake beat No. 7 Mahnomen 87-37, followed by a No. 3 Clearbrook-Gonvick’s 59-28 victory over No. 7 Lake of the Woods in the opening round of the Section 8A East Tournament.
The two winning teams, Red Lake and Clearbrook-Gonvick, face off at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls.
Desjarlait, White lead Red Lake
In the early game, junior guard Grace White led the Warriors (21-3) with 33 points. Alexis Desjarlait tacked on 19, which enough to give the sophomore 1000 career points.
