Kelliher School Spelling Bee

The annual Kelliher School Spelling Bee was held on January 21st. The competition was fierce, as has become a tradition at Kelliher School, with the best spellers from grades 5 through 8 participating for honors. The winner was Jacina Jourdain, a 7th grader, who won with the correct spelling of the word "iambic." The runner-up was also a 7th grader, Riley Dreher, and it took several rounds to determine the winner.

Jacina went on to the Regional Bee at Thief River Falls on February 10th, where she scored in the top quarter of competitors and went on to a respectable score in the oral round. When asked, Jacina did not recall the word she went out on, but she does remember that "I had an 'o' instead of an 'a'."

Congratulations, Jacina, you are a winner.
