Second half surge lifts top-seeded Red Lake past Clearbrook

BEMIDJI — A strong second half lifted the Red Lake boys basketball team to a 81-56 win over Clearbrook-Gonvick in the Section 8A east sub-section quarterfinals Thursday night at the BSU Gymnasium.

“Clearbrook really came to play tonight and hit the boards pretty hard, shot the lights out and played really well against us,” Red Lake head coach Roger White said. “But our second half our defense picked up and we got some stops and we got some shots to go down and were able to come out with a victory.”

Rob McClain led the top-seeded Warriors (23-4) with 17 points, with 15 of them coming in the second half. Jamie Cook tallied 15 points and Jeremy Martin added 14 for Red Lake.
