Blackduck edges past Northome-Kelliher in OT

BEMIDJI—Wyatt Brands scored 22 points, including crucial free throws down the stretch, to lead Blackduck over Northome-Kelliher 76-70 in overtime in the first round of the Section 8A East boys basketball tournament Thursday.

Blackduck junior Isaac Volk added 20 points for the fifth-seeded Drakes. Guards Tanner Depew (5) and Colton Brown (6) combined for 11 points as the Drakes now take on No. 1 seed Red Lake on Saturday in Thief River Falls. Blackduck improved to 13-14 on the season.

The game was tied at 65 at the end of regulation.
