PLUMMER, Minn.--Minnesota Sen. LeRoy Stumpf, DFL-Plummer, announced Wednesday he won't seek re-election this fall after more than 35 years in the Legislature.
Stumpf, the longest-serving active Minnesota senator, said "the time is right" for he and his wife, Carol, to spend more time with each other and family. He has three adult children and eight grandchildren.
"It was a real pleasure to represent the quality of the people up here," Stumpf said by phone Wednesday. "Hopefully I was able to get some good things done."
