Temporary-employment agency run by Lumbee tribal chairman sued by federal government

LUMBERTON - The federal government has filed a lawsuit against a temporary-employment agency owned by the new chairman of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.

Two Hawk Employment Services allegedly refused to hire a woman because of conditions disclosed by illegal medical inquiries, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a news release Monday.

Harvey Godwin Jr., the owner of Two Hawk in Robeson County, was unable to be reached for comment.
