Cimmarusti court hearing pushed to mid-March

BEMIDJI—A court hearing for Marchello Anthony Cimmarusti, charged with second degree intentional murder in the death of Rose Downwind, was rescheduled from Friday to March 17.

Cimmarusti was charged with second degree intentional murder after an amended complaint was filed with the 9th District Court on Feb. 1 that contained results of an autopsy on Downwind, 31, of Redby. The autopsy showed that Downwind, Cimmarusti's ex-girlfriend, had died as a result of ligature strangulation.

The autopsy took place after Downwind's body was discovered in a shallow grave northwest of Bemidji in December. On Dec. 7, Cimmarusti turned himself in to law enforcement and on Dec. 9, he told police that Downwind died as a result of being pushed down a flight of cement stairs. Cimmarusti led officials to Downwind's body and told investigators that he was assisted in trying to dispose of the body by his cousin Christopher John Davis, 27, St. Paul, and Brandon Rossbach, 31, Bemidji.
