Red Lake Lady Warriors upset Clearbrook-Gonvick 72-64 - Set 2 - P11

8th straight win and now 15-3 on the season

RED LAKE, MN - The Red Lake Lady Warriors, ranked 45th in the stated, hosted the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears, ranked 34th, picking up their eighth straight win Tuesday night with their 72-64 win.

Right at the start the Lady Warriors came out of the gate fast and hard, leading by as much as 17 points in the first half, 27-10.

But Clearbrook-Gonvick kept coming back, and with top scorer Grace White picking up her 3rd foul and having to sit down with 5 minutes left in the half, came to within 6, at 39-33.

The Bears continued to out-rebound the Warriors and eventually tied the game 41-41 with 14:26 left in the second half. However, they never took the lead, and Red Lake continued to score and the defense picked up the pace to hold on for the win, 72-64.

Sophomore Alexis Desjarlait led Red Lake with 25 points (2 three pointers) and 5 rebounds, as the Warriors improved their overall record to 14-3.

Grace White still managed to score 25 points and pull down 14 rebounds. followed by eighth grader Autumn Holthusen, with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Sam Roy had 3 points and 7 rebounds, and Danielle Seki had 2 points.

Madison Stenzel led the Bears with 27 points as Clearbrook-Gonvick droped to 16-3 overall. Liz Bodensteiner added 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Bears.

Clearbrook-Gonvick went 11-18 from the freethrow line, while Red Lake was 10-16.

Red Lake will return to action on Thursday, February 4th when they travel to Laporte to take on the Wildcats. Clearbrook-Gonvick is off until Tuesday, February 9th when they host the Nevis Tigers.

Red Lake won the "B" Squad game over Clearbrook-Gonvick 41-20.
