Noem puts pressure on HHS Secretary in response to tribal health care crisis

U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem is fighting for answers to tribal health care. Noem is trying to spur U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell into action to make important changes.

A federal report found disturbing deficiencies at many Indian Health Service Facilities (IHS). IHS units on the Rosebud Sioux and Pine Ridge Reservations are aware they are at risk of losing accreditation from the centers for Medicare and Medicaid. The emergency room in Rosebud has been shut down indefinitely due to significant safety concerns.

Noem says the only way to restore accountability and pride in the Great Plains workforce is to make a major culture shift.
