FARGO — Marcus Schumacher, who's been identified as the suspected shooter in a standoff Wednesday night that left a Fargo police officer with a life-threatening gunshot wound, was charged with shooting two men and killing one of them in 1988.
Schumacher, 49, is dead after an eight-hour standoff at his north Fargo home during which he shot at Jason Moszer and other officers. Moszer, 33, is not expected to survive.
When he was 22 years old, Schumacher was charged with shooting Maynard Clauthier, then 17, and Bradley Boswell, then 21, in Grand Forks. Clauthier died from his gunshot wound to the abdomen, and Schumacher was later found guilty of negligent homicide in his death.
