Feds announce guilty plea in meth ring sting

A Mescalero man has pleaded guilty to a federal methamphetamine distribution charge in a plea bargain obtained by prosecutors following up on a multi-agency investigation of a meth trafficking operation based on tribal lands that produced 34 arrests in coordinated raids in December.

Wallace Rice, 23, a Mescalero Apache Nation member, entered the plea last Friday in U.S. District Court Las Cruces,

Rice was one of 34 people charged with federal and tribal drug offenses at the end of an 18-month multi-agency investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Indian Affairs and supported by tribal police into methamphetamine trafficking on the reservation.
