Tribe to vote on requirements for enrollment

FORT APACHE RESERVATION — The White Mountain Apache Tribal Council voted Nov. 1, 2013, and passed a resolution calling for a Bureau of Indian Affairs-administered election on a proposed constitutional amendment to the enrollment criteria.

This was again discussed at a recent council meeting, during which plans were finalized for moving forward with this election.

The proposed amendment came after a group of tribal elders and denied enrollees requested a change that could affect the current 16,467 enrolled members and increase membership.
